North Down YMCA is currently recruiting new members for its Board of Directors
YMCA North Down is a faith-based charity, affiliated to YMCA Ireland and a part of the worldwide YMCA movement. The Association delivers an innovative range of services, including youth work, health projects, community, housing and ethnic minority support programmes as well as providing school-aged childcare. Employing 36 staff, working alongside twenty plus volunteers, YMCA North Down is locally governed by its Board of Directors who are responsible for shaping its future direction.
The YMCA is currently recruiting new Board Members to help oversee the Association’s work with individuals, families and communities across the North Down and Ards area.
Becoming a Trustee is a great way to give something back to a cause you care about. We are keen to hear from individuals who have an interest in our areas of work and who can bring a range of skills, experience and passion to support this dynamic organisation and staff team. In return we promise a warm welcome alongside a full induction to help maximise your contribution as a Board Member.
Angela Stallard, current Chairperson of the Association, and who works as a Senior Manager with PlayBoard NI, said, “During my 7 years on the Board I have been amazed at the breadth and depth of the work of YMCA North Down. I’m particularly enjoying my involvement in the Association’s play-based childcare, which has grown rapidly over the past 6 years. I am looking forward to having new Trustees join us and would urge anyone with an interest in our work to get in touch.”
Neil Robinson, Professional accountant and current Treasurer shares his experience; “I joined the Board of YMCA North Down several years ago because I had witnessed the organisation’s positive impact across our community. In my role as Treasurer I have been struck by the commitment of staff and volunteers to improve the lives of people who need support the most. I would encourage those who want to contribute to the YMCA’s brilliant local work to consider joining the Board.”
Pauline McMullan, General Secretary of YMCA North Down YMCA, added, “We are looking to welcome to the Board new Trustees who can bring fresh skills and experiences. We would especially welcome interest from individuals with expertise in finance and accounting, business or community development and HR or Governance. We are also particularly keen to recruit those from ethnic minority background. The help you provide will be invaluable to us and to all of the people and communities we support.”.
